Today In History: March 20, 2003 The Iraq War Began!
The Iraq War was a war that began and continued on March 20, 2003, when multinational coalition forces formed under the leadership of the United States and the United Kingdom entered Iraq in a military operation. It is also referred to as the Second Gulf War, the invasion of Iraq, and operation liberating Iraq by the coalition countries. On October December 21, 2011, US President Barack Obama announced that US troops in the country would be withdrawn by December 31, 2011.On December 15, 2011, the war officially ended with the downing of the last American flag from the American base in Baghdad. US Secretary of State John Kerry said the war was a grave mistake.
